MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' football game at North Greenville University will be televised live on WMYA channel 40. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start. Mars Hill leads the series against the Crusaders, 7-1. After two losses to NCAA Division I opponents, the Lions won their home and South Atlantic Conference opener last weekend by beating Brevard College, 38-0.

The Coaches:
Tim Clifton is in his twentieth season as the head coach for the Lions. During his tenure, the Lions have a 107-98 (.522) record. His overall record is the same. Last season Mars Hill was 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the SAC which placed them tied for first place in the league. The Lions are 124-97-1 at home in 46 years at Meares Stadium. Clifton has recorded 14 winning seasons in 19 years as the head coach for the Lions. Clifton has the most wins by any Mars Hill head coach and picked up his 100th career victory this season. After the win over Brevard College in 2006 (55-0), Clifton moved into second position in all-time coaching victories by SAC coaches.
Carroll McCray is in his first year as the head coach for the Crusaders. His record at NGU is 0-3 (.000). His career record is 11-36 (.234). Last year the Crusaders had a 11-3 overall record.
The Last Meeting:
MARS HILL, N.C. (Nov. 26, 2011) - The Lions’ football team lost to North Greenville 58-32 in the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Jonas Randolph broke the SAC career rushing record in the contest recording 200 yards on the ground. On last play of game, Jonas broke the South Atlantic Conference record for career rushing yards held by Elon’s Bobby Hedrick (5,604 yards from 1977-80). Jonas now has 5,608 from 2008-11. Randolph averaged 5.3 yards per carry and one rushing touchdown and caught one pass for 21 yards and one score. Dimitri Holmes caught seven passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns to lead the receiving corps. Troy Harris led the Lion defense with 11 tackles (10 solo), two tackles-for-loss and a sack. Rudy Cabral followed with 10 tackles (8 solo) and the same number of tackles-for-loss. Marvin James had six stops and a fumble recovery. Willy Korn led NGU to victory passing for 172 yards and one score and rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Nick Rosamonda led the Crusaders’ defense with 10 solo tackles and an interception return for a 55-yard touchdown.
Last Game:
MARS HILL, N.C. (Sept. 15, 2012) – The Lions’ football team recorded 512 yards of total offense and held SAC rival Brevard College to just 124 total yards to obtain a 38-0 victory. Jon Richt completed 10-16 passes for 218 yards and three touchdown passes to lead the Lions’ offense. Deunta Jennings was on the receiving end of three of those passes for 124 yards and one score including a 73-yard scoring reception. Anthony Lewis led the Lions rushing attack with 132 yards on 13 carries including an 88-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter. Shaikel Davis tallied 98 yards rushing on 15 carries. Logan Jensen had three catches for 47 yards and a 28-yard scoring catch. Mam Nyang led the Lions’ defense with three sacks, five tackles and one quarterback hurry. Troy Harris added nine stops, a tackle-for-loss, a forced fumble and a hurry. Jasper Mason added eight tackles in the win.
