Lions Sweep Milligan
October 16, 2012MILLIGAN, Tenn.-- The Mars Hill volleyball team swept Milligan 3-0 in non-conference action at Milligan College Tuesday night.
Mars Hill earned 25-16, 25-19 and 25-8 set victories. The Lions were paced by Marissa Wixson, who notched 10 kills and 10 digs to earn the double-double. Toni Cole added 10 kills for MHC. Milligan was paced by Kylie Whaley with six kills. Mars Hill improved to 11-8, while Milligan fell to 14-11.
The Lions held Milligan to a hitting percentage below .000 in both the first and third sets. Helping the defensive effort were seven total team blocks, led by four block assists from Regan Macomson. The middle blocker also had seven kills in the match.
Mars Hill also totaled 49 digs, to 37 for Milligan. Maggie Murphy paced MHC with 19 digs. Becca Smith distributed 16 assists for the Lions.
MHC will host South Atlantic Conference foe Wingate at 7:00 p.m. in Stanford Arena this Friday, Oct. 19.
