ANDERSON, S.C.-- After falling behind early in the second half, the Mars Hill men's soccer team scored two unanswered goals to earn a 2-1 victory over South Atlantic Conference foe Anderson in Trojan Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Alex Mullen scored the game-winner in the 67th-minute, assisted by Gregg Munn to break a one-all tie and give the Lions the win. Stephen Bivens scored the other Lion goal. Zac Scott played all 90 minutes in net and made one save to earn the victory. Lars Zimmerman scored the Anderson goal. Mars Hill is now 9-2 overall, 4-1 in SAC play. Anderson is now 1-8-2, 1-3-1 in conference matches.
After a scoreless first half, Zimmerman's goal gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the 52nd-minute. Eduardo Cabastani and Shu Ogawa picked up the assists.
Bivens' goal knotted the score at 1-1 just seven minutes later. Nathaniel Enos picked up the assist. The goal was Bivens' fifth of the season.
Mullen's game-winner was his fourth goal of the season. Mullen now has three game-winners to his credit.
Mars Hill will host conference-foe Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 5:00 p.m. in Meares Stadium.
