CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- The Mars Hill women's cross country team placed 14th at the Queens Royals Pre-Region Cross Country Challenge, which was held Friday afternoon at McAlpine Creek Park.
The Lions placed third among Division II schools in a meet that also included teams from the SEC and ACC. Mars Hill's top time was turned in by Faith Trammell, who finished 58th overall with a time of 19:01.5- nearly thirty seconds better than her previous-best effort this season. The Lions placed second among South Atlantic Conference schools competing in the event.
Savannah Hulbert turned in a time of 19:36.8 to finish second among Mars Hill runners. Heidi Hooker, Elizabeth Klapmeyer and Shelby Robinson rounded out the top five for the Lions.
Mars Hill's team average of 20:21.82 bested its previous season-best average by twenty seconds.
Mars Hill will compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships in Greeneville, Tenn. on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m.
