Teddy Guyer has been coach of the Mars Hill Lions swim program for eight years. Guyer brings over 30 years of experience in coaching and aquatics to the Lions. As a college coach Guyer has compiled a 257 wins to only 60 losses in dual meets and as Mars Hill’s coach his record is 120–20. He has also been named coach of the year five times, three of them coming as coach of the Lions (06-07, 08-09, 12-13).
Last year’s Lions' swim team saw numerous team records fall, conference records broken, 10 NCAA national cuts made, and the third consecutive year making it to the NCAA Division II National Championship. At nationals, Hudson Tucker was named “All-American” by placing eighth in the 100 Back and ninth in the 100 Fly. In the team standings Mars Hill finished 24th overall and second straight year in the top 25.
Guyer and his wife Haven have been married for 23 years and have four sons: TC age 21, Colby age 18, Trace age 11 and Lance age 8. The family resides in Bethel, N.C.
